Each quarter, AI LA convenes technologists, builders, and policy-curious professionals for a grounded, timely briefing on AI legislation — what's passed, what's coming, and what it actually means for your work and your life.
This inaugural session couldn't be more timely. Senator Blackburn's TRUMP AMERICA AI Act dropped March 18th, California has 20+ AI bills in session, and the fight over who gets to regulate AI — the federal government or the states — is happening right now. We're skipping the headlines and going straight to consequences.
We'll move through three lenses that matter most to the LA tech community: what every 1concerned citizen should understand about the federal-state power struggle; what founders building AI products need to know before they ship; and what workers, job applicants, and creators can actually do to protect themselves — from workplace surveillance laws to the NO FAKES Act to pending litigation against Anthropic, Meta, and others.
In the room: an AI governance scholar and IP litigator, a privacy and data security attorney from Morrison Foerster, and a digital policy researcher with California government affairs experience. Three distinct perspectives, no party line, and time for your questions.
